Over $50 Million Recovered
Personal Injury Attorneys Serving The St. Petersburg Area
Clearwater Liquor Liability Lawyer
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 875 people in Florida died in alcohol-related automobile crashes in 2008. It is important to hold drunk drivers responsible for their actions. However, in many cases, responsibility for those accidents may also lie with the bars, restaurants and other establishments – even private parties that served alcohol to the drunk driver. Dram shop and liquor liability laws exist to give injured individuals the ability to file suit against those who enable drunk drivers.
At the law firm of Reeder & Nussbaum, P.A., our lawyers represent victims of drunk driving accidents in St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Tampa and the surrounding areas. In these cases, we pursue compensation from the drivers and their insurance companies as well as the establishments responsible for the intoxication.

Dram Shop, Liquor Liability and Your Rights in Drunk Driving Accidents
Under Florida law, a bar is liable for any injuries resulting from another’s intoxication if it willfully serves alcohol to a person under the drinking age, or if it knowingly serves alcohol to a person addicted to alcohol. Bars and restaurants must also require their patrons to show that they are of legal drinking age. This responsibility also extends to private parties where minors may be in attendance.
Dram shop and liquor liability cases can be challenging. As many drinkers do not stay at one establishment over the course of the night, it can be difficult to determine when a person became drunk and who was responsible for over serving the individual. At Reeder & Nussbaum, we work hard to reconstruct the events of the evening when the accident took place in order to determine liability. We will review receipts, get eyewitness accounts and review any police reports and statements to help understand what happened and to build the most effective possible case.
